Am Freitagabend haben wir die Innenstadt von Nashville unsicher gemacht. "Downtown" erstreckt sich der legendäre Broadway der Stadt. Diese Ausgehmeile ist berühmt für die unzähligen Bars und Konzertsäle mit Live-Musik. Bei gutem Essen und gepflegten Getränken genossen wir die tollen Performances der Bands.
Am Samstag unternahmen wir einen Ausflug ins Hinterland. Die Reiseleitung übernahm Krissy, eine gute Bekannte von Michael Wagener. Es verschlug uns nach Franklin, in "The Legendary Kimbro's Pickin' Parlor", einer kauzigen Juke Joint, wie es sie typischerweise nur in Südstaaten zu finden gibt. Die außergewöhnlich geile Show von "The Soulshine Family Band" in Verbindung mit dem hervorragenden IPA Craft Bier aus der Region, bereitete uns zahlreiche Wonnemomente.
Im Wireworld Studio von Michael Wagener haben wir mittlerweile den Großteil der Songs durchgearbeitet. Mit dem stampfenden Heavy Rocker "Body Language" stand ein typischer Sergeant Steel-Song auf der Agenda. Ganz andere Pfade beschreiten wir mit "Pain In My Ass". Dessen Stil entspricht eher modernem Southern Rock. Das balladeske "The Time Will Come" erwies sich mit seinen komplexen Keyboard- und Gitarrenarrangements als kleine Herausforderung. Umso größer war die Freude über den schlussendlich mehr als geglückten Mix der Nummer.
Friday night we went downtown, Nashville. We took a walk on the legendary broadway there. It's famous for it's countless bars and clubs, which offer live performances. We enjoyed the food and drinks, while watching the shows of many well-gifted musicians.
On saturday evening we took a trip in the back country guided by our travel agent Krissy who's a good friend of Michael Wagener. We discovered "The Legendary Kimbro's Pickin' Parlor" in Franklin. It's a typical juke joint and "The Soulshine Famliy Band" was on the bill. We enjoyed their amazing performance very much, just as a vast amount of the local IPA craft beer.
Meanwhile, we have done most of our songs at Michael Wagener's Wireworld studio. "Body Language" is a typical Sergeant Steel song. It's a pounding heavy rock anthem. Another track is called "Pain In My Ass", and it goes in completely different direction. It's some kind of a modern southern rock groover. "The Time Will Come" is a ballad, and it has some complex keyboard and guitar arrangements to offer. The mixdown was a bit challenging, but in the end we unsurprisingly got the best result possible from Michael.
